Instant Personal Credit Report

Your instant personal credit report is only a few clicks away. Entering your information online will enable you to get your credit history in seconds. So just before you apply for a loan or insurance, you can double check for any mistakes that might be on your record.

Information Needed

Only basic information is needed to get your credit report. Just entering your name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number will bring up your report. To confirm your identification, the reporting agencies will ask you an obscure fact that only you would know. Many times it is your mortgage payment.

To make sure you get a speedy report, double check that you entered all your information correctly. Dropping off part of your address is a common mistake that can delay your report.

Another option is to take advantage of an offer from a credit monitoring service. Usually with an introductory offer, you can get your report free and not have to answer detailed questions.

Getting Your Credit Report

As soon as you submit your information, you will receive your report. It is that fast. You can look over your copy or print it off for your records. You can also request a paper version, which takes up to 15 days to receive.

Using Your Credit Report

With your report, you can check for any errors or suspicious activity on your account. Start by reviewing your payment history for any erroneous late or missed payment statements. Also, look for any unknown open credit accounts. This may be a sign of identity theft.

Besides payment history, glance over recent credit inquiries made. Do you recognize the names of companies as ones you have applied with recently? If not, make sure they haven’t opened any accounts in your name. Just another way to protect yourself from fraud.

If you do come across a problem, report it immediately to the reporting agency and the information provider. The reporting agency is responsible for investigating and resolving any mistakes with your credit report. But, it is a good idea to follow up with both the agency and erring company.
